About Us

We are committed to recognising and supporting organisations that align with and aspire to achieve gender equality and inclusivity for all women in business. We aim to bring about improvements and to showcase pioneering approaches within the business community.

Our 7 goals

  • The promotion and availability of flexible and part-time working, especially at senior levels that attract higher levels of pay and conditions.
  • A commitment to increase the numbers of women at senior levels and on the board.
  • Making at least one member of the senior executive team responsible for reporting on gender equality and inclusion.
  • Encouraging and supporting female employees in lower paid and lower skilled occupations to progress through the organisation, through appropriate training and other on-going support.
  • A commitment to close the gender pay gap.
  • A focus on implementing recruitment, appraisal, personal development and promotion processes that are non-discriminatory towards women and are free from unconscious bias.
  • Supporting women where they are under-represented, through mentoring and women’s networks.

Why should you sign up?

We’ve already had almost 40 companies, employing over 20,000 people, sign up to Charter in the year since its launch. We bring those companies together to share their experience and knowledge and learn from each other through regular events.  We are very keen to welcome SMEs and those companies who haven’t made (or any) much progress on gender equality to date. They will get lots of value from hearing how other businesses are handling this and the results they’re getting. We’ll be charging companies a small annual fee to support the work of the CIC going forward, with any profit that’s made once costs are covered being reinvested in the aims of the company.

  • Being able to use the Bristol Women in Business logo across all your HR and recruitment materials
  • Publishing the Women in Business Charter on your website
  • Your name listed on the Women in Business website
  • An opportunity to host, speak and meet other signatories at future Women in Business events, centred around the goals of the Charter
  • A case study of your business that can be showcased to other companies
  • Access and support from the group’s network
