Sandra Gordon
The trip to Africa reignited my creative side and led to me starting my own creative business where I work collectively with Artisans in Africa, which helps to supports their sustainability. A chance meeting in the green room of a TV comedy, gave birth to the idea of Rise a social enterprise, and I am also a Radio presenter and Director at Ujima Radio. My working career started as an admin assistant and I worked my way up to running my own Call Centres which included managing over 350 staff across 3 sites for some trusted brands. I utilised the opportunity of a career break to undertake voluntary work in Africa, job coaching the homeless, and to become an accredited Life Coach. The work for Women’s equality was supported through my time with BWV, and as a member of the Women in Business task group. I am currently the Co Chair for the Mayoral Commission on Race Equality. I was honoured to be appointed as a Magistrate in 2019, and a Director of the Women in Business Charter in 2020.
At the heart of everything I do is about giving everyone a chance to be the best they can be and to bring balance and equality to those groups who are disadvantaged in our society. |
Jane Ginnever MBA MScHaving started my career in customer services in large corporates, I was then one of the first women to apply to become an RAF pilot when the role opened to women in 1989. I didn’t fly in the end, but I was selected and trained to be a commissioned officer, and spent 7 years in uniform leading teams of specialists on UK bases. When I re-joined civilian life I used my leadership skills to good effect leading change in small and medium sized companies. I ended my in-house career leading the HR function in a number of businesses. I have founded and successfully run two businesses and currently run a consultancy that supports business leaders to develop a culture of high performance, inclusion and innovation. I led the team that launched the Bristol Women in Business Charter in March 2019, am a Fellow of the RSA, speak publicly on matters relating to people, organisations and the future of work, and mentor women in business.

Izobel Woolley
I am currently studying at University West of England for a BA(Hons) Marketing degree.
From my degree, I wanted to go down a path of social marketing, yet, as I learnt through my work with the Women’s Charter, my career aspiration is to become a Diversity and Inclusion officer. Businesses are more than capable of putting the effort in and getting profitable and innovating results, I feel it is a necessity in modern business practise and these new roles of D&I officers and the work the Charter has been putting in are fuelling that fire to improve societies business practise. People have always been an interesting discussion point for me. Difference has historically been the justification for rules and behaviours. Growing up with Deaf parents, I have always been aware of social inequalities. I have a BA (hons) in Human Communication and developed my career working in customer centric roles within both the private and public sector. Joining the Women in Business Charter means I can bring my administrative experience and skills to the team. I am glad to have the opportunity to contribute to decisions being made with positive impacts for Bristol women. I’m currently studying my CIPD in Human Resources whilst working as a People Assistant in Financial services by day. Each character's goal aims to provide a better working practice for women. As a result, supports businesses and the employee experience. This has a domino effect on our lives as a whole. My role is to support our current and new signatories with any queries and progress the goals. When working with amazing values, it’s easy for me to support signatories with enquiries. Equality for all is not a given, with aims of positive change, it’s great to be part of the team. And ultimately help improve the experience for all women.

Women in Business Charter Ambassadors
We recognised that there are many organisations who are supportive of the work we are doing and are keen to be a part of making real change towards gender equality.
The Women in Business Charter offers businesses a real opportunity to do so and to work collectively towards sharing best practice and networking on a wider level.
There are also individuals who are keen to support us and be a part of our journey, towards businesses recruiting and retaining a gender balanced workforce, but are unable to do this as a Charter signatory.
We therefore created the role of Ambassadors.
What is the WIBC Ambassador?
The Charter Ambassadors are active advocates for the work of the Charter and for gender equality in Bristol. They help us to fly the flag and increase awareness of the Charter and its goals within the local business community. We value their expertise, passion, and commitment, both as businesswomen and in the work they do within the wider community to create more inclusion and equity of opportunity for all women and girls.
